Accoules Sax !

accoules sax

Accoules Sax is my favorite band from last week’s visit to Montreal’s Jazz Festival. They are a marching band from Marseille, France. Seriously, there were many bands at the Festival, but these guys stood out by their sheer presence on stage and their performance, of course.

Covers and compositions are both part of their repertoire. Take a minute or two and listen to the audio files on their web site it is really worth it. And keep in mind they are doing this without a full drum, no bass, no guitar and no keyboard. Six saxophones : one barytone, one soprano, two altos and two tenors. There are also two percussionists. Most impressive result.

The Bunny-Man

Bunny-Man
I asked Brem who was his favorite super hero, so I could draw his cartoon self in the costume.
He’s not one to give a clear or straight answer, he’s mostly, well, unclear. It’s one of his traits.
He will probably argue the point too. Anyway, I made up the Bunny-Man so I would have an excuse to draw him in a costume.

If, and that’s a big if, I get a precise answer, I will draw him wearing something else.

Wolvergog and the Phoenix

wolvergog & phoenix
Here’s what I would look like dressed up as Wolverine (oh, sorry, that is not the best Wolverine drawing I have seen. This one‘s better), not pretty is it?
Now Phoenix looks better. Must have something to do with spandex and waistlines.

When I did those, I thought I was very funny. But now, looking back, I’m suddenly not so sure.

Martial Arts and Me

Martial Arts fascinate me. Some time ago I saw two Shaolin monks perform their art live and I have to say it is even more impressive and fascinating now. In the show there were students, not from China mind you, showcasing different styles. I made these drawings while looking at the brochure they gave out.

Here is a ninja with a kyoketsu shogi, a very useful weapon from the display we got, and a tiger claw stance.
